January 26, 2024 Update -
For now, Greyson is being taken off of the adoption list in order for me to work with her to improve her socialization skills. I am hoping that by next summer or fall she will be in a better place to be added back onto the list. She is such a sweet girl, and she is making strides slowly, but surely. Feel free to continue reading about this precious little one.
Greyson was one of 4 kittens born to the Mama cat in April of 2020, and she is the only one remaining from that litter. She is a super-sweet, gentle, grey Tuxedo who looks almost identical to her older brother, Travis (he was born to Mama just about 6 months earlier).
Greyson has never had the opportunity to let her playful side fully shine. Outside of being in my home when she was healing from being spayed, she has never come back into my house. With our recent bout of frigid temperatures, she would sit outside my back porch door, and on rare occasions, she would timidly come in a few feet, but dart out the door with any movement or noise. She is very curious about the inside of the house, and she sees the other animals come and go and wants to investigate, but she is too afraid to make the move. I am hoping that by the end of the winter, she will be more comfortable with coming into the house.
In the morning when I feed everyone, that is when I have the opportunity for some one-on-one time with her, as she will gladly hold off on eating until she has had some love and affection. She loves - absolutely loves - to be petted.
Being a shy female in a colony with 4 males, she will often step aside when it comes to food, play, and attention, but when she has had the opportunity to play on her own, her funny, delightful spirit shines through. I used to have a tall willow tree in my yard, and she loved to climb it. One of her favorite things to do would be for me to fling the feather toy on the tree limbs, and she would jump from limb-to-limb to catch it. She would get so excited! She is also an incredible little hunter -- whether it is mice, moles, or birds, she is always bringing something into the yard, and she is so proud of her accomplishments!
During the day, Greyson stays close to my back yard. She enjoys and uses the shelters I have for them, but I would love for her to be able to experience family life and know the security of a warm and nurturing home. As with the others, she deserves that, as she is such a good natured little soul.
Potential is such a powerful word, and when it comes to Greyson, I see a little one who has always had to worry about the world outside and who has not known what it is like to fall asleep in a soft chair or curl up on a warm lap. Her potential is unrealized because she hasn't had the environment to fully experience those things that can bring out those beautiful qualities that I have only caught glimpses of. I truly feel that her potential for blossoming into a loving, loyal, playful family pet is HUGE.
Greyson has never been around dogs, and with her timid nature, I would recommend that she be in a single-pet household. She is loving. She is so sweet. She is such a gentle little girl. All she really needs is a chance -- and a patient, loving home -- to be able to let her blossom into all that she can be.
If you are interested in learning more about Greyson and may be looking to adopt her, please send me a note through the "Contact" page. I will be happy to answer your questions and e-mail you an adoption application.
